• "Profumi di Mosto", Sunday in the Garda wineries on October 9

    “Profumi di Mosto” is the traditional gourmet circuit in the wineries of Valtenesi and the Brescia shore of Lake Garda winery: the 15th edition is scheduled for October 9th from 11 to 6 pm in 23 companies divided into three itineraries articulated on the hills of Garda, between Desenzano and San Felice del Benaco, touching the hinterland villages such as Calvagese, Bedizzole and Puegnago as those on the coast such as Moniga, Manerba, Padenghe. Each winery will offer tastings of wines made mostly with native Groppello grapes, from Chiaretto to red wines, matched with typical local products.

    All the wines offered during the day will be also available for tasting throughout the day to the big tasting event organized in Villa Galnica Puegnago, home of Valtènesi Consortium, where everybody will meet for the final usual toast usual at 7 pm with live music from the Teen Town band.

    For each path there’s a carnet of 10 tastings available (8 cellars + wine cellar wildcard pick from one of the other two routes + Villa Galnica) at a cost of 28 euros including glass, purchased the day of the event at any winery from which you will choose to leave. It is also available in advance at the reduced price of 25 Euros at Cassa Padana bank or on the site, where you can also learn about the routes and see all the wine-food pairings. Flexible tickets bought in advance will be withdrawable at Villa Galnica Puegnago or Desenzano Station.

    As always there will be also a bus service to attend the event in safety and tranquility (reservations required by writing to or by calling 370-1108423).

  • Chiaretto, the wine for a night.... and for lovers

    In a few days many people around the word will celebrate St. Valentine’s Day. On Lake Garda the traditional Feast of Lovers coincides with the arrival on the market of Valtenesi Chiaretto, a rosé wine produced on the West lakeshore. This is a unique wine because it is made from indigenous vine Groppello: rare grapes growing on 400 hectares only in this area of Lake Garda and nowhere else in the world.

    In occasion of St. Valentine’s, it is amazing to remember of how the origin of Chiaretto is closely linked to a faraway love story between a noblewoman from Lake Garda, Amalia Brunati, and a Venetian senator, Pompeo Molmenti, that got married in 1885. In the Brunati family’s land in Moniga del Garda the Senator began to develop and improve the production method of Chiaretto that was well spread from ancient times, or to be exact, from ‘500.

    The secret of Valtenesi Chiaretto is in the must that remains in contact only few hours with the skins of red grapes harvested in September. During the nocturnal ritual of racking, cellerman must implement his skills in capturing the freshness and the essence of a territory.

    The result is a savoury, fragrant and fresh rosé with fruity notes but capable of acquiring harmonic, elegant and balanced features during the ageing process. Even though this is a wine of great traditions, it is able to match consumer tastes above all because it pairs well with food ranging from starters to main courses (and in particular with risotto) and from freshwater fish to white meat dishes. So, ideal for any mealtime!

    In the next summer season you can taste the freshness of this rosé wine at our restaurants. Again this year, Chiaretto will be in the wine list together with the most prestigious wines of the territory.  

  • Comincioli, Gambero Rosso awards the excellence of his Garda oil

    The extra virgin olive oil from Lake Garda has met great success all over the world. One of the most famous representatives is Mr. Gianfranco Comincioli from Puegnago, a wine and olive oil producer. He produces wine and oils of high quality that have been recognized by experts. His oil awarded by Gambero Rosso, an Italian food and wine magazine. In the prestigious magazine “Oli d’Italia” of Gambero Rosso two of his oils have obtained three leaves, that is the maximum score: the Monocultivar Casaliva and the Monocultivar Lecino Denocciolato. Mr. Comincioli is one of the pioneer in olive growing on Lake Garda: he was one of the first company to valorise the different variety of oil thanks to different pressings. He has opted for the pitted olive pressing: a complex procedure that gives sweetness to oil. In this way an oil can get its unique aroma and taste. So, you can try this special extra virgin olive oil by Comincioli at our restaurant à la carte “Il Giardino dei Limoni”. We can say that this is the gold of Lake Garda.

  • Groppello & Casaliva take the stage at the Puegnago Fiera

    The end of August brings the now traditional appointment with the Puegnago Fair, historical Lake Garda wine event celebrating its 40th edition this year. The appointment is scheduled from Saturday 27, with the official opening (5 pm), while the closure is for the evening of Monday, August 29 with the traditional fireworks show (10.30 pm). The great protagonists of the three days will be the red wines of Valtènesi based on Groppello, the indigenous vine of the area, which will be offered for tasting from the participating wineries in the magnificent setting of Villa Galnica, but also extra virgin olive oils of the area, with a particular fondness for monocultivar Casaliva, the olive variety typical on this side of Garda.   • Profumi di Mosto, wine tasting in 21 wineries on Lake Garda: 8th October, 11am-6pm, 30 euro

    On Sunday 8th October has been scheduled the appointment “Profumi di Mosto”, the traditional appointment in occasion of the end of the grape harvest in the wineries in Valtenesi now entering its 16th edition. 21 wineries that will be opened to wine lovers and subdivided into three itineraries in the Colline Moreniche del Garda, between Pozzolengo and San Felice del Benaco, through towns in the hinterland such as Calvagese, Bedizzole and Puegnago, and towns by the lake such as Moniga, Manerba and Padenghe. In every winery visitors can taste two wines, red and Chiaretto wine, produced with Groppello grapes, in combination with local food. Moreover, in the seat of the Consortium Valtenesi, Villa Galnica, visitors can taste all wines offered during the event. For every itinerary is available a ticket with 9 tastings (7 wineries plus a winery at your choice among the other itineraries and Villa Galnica) at 30 € included a glass for tastings that can be bought in the wineries during the event or on pre-sale at reduced price of 25 euro on the website , where it will be possible to find the itineraries with wine and food combinations.   • Valtènesi, it's harvest time!

    The return of September brings back also on Lake Garda the ancient ritual of harvest: these days especially operations have begun on the hills of Valtènesi with the harvest of Doc grapes Groppello, Marzemino, Barbera and Sangiovese for the production of the renowned Chiaretto. The forecasts are positive: vintage is shaping on the average production quantities (grapes / hectare) of the last 10 years, but down slightly compared to 2015, as well as analytical data of very good grapes for tenors and acidic pH. The dry heat of late August and the first half of this month has caused a surge of sugars. The wineries of the area are expecting about 52 thousand tons of grapes for a total production of more than 4 million bottles. The grape harvest for Chiaretto will be followed by the selection that for the reds, but only when the ripening will reach a high intensity.
