  • Truffles, Lake Garda is getting ready for the "Nero Pregiato"

Truffle seekers on Lake Garda are getting ready for the prized black truffle harvest. Truffles are widespread in the Alto Garda park and these growing areas cover 90% of the truffle harvest on western shores of Lake Garda. The natural production has been greatly reduced over the years and growing areas are essential for the truffle harvest. The season of Tuber Melanosporum, the scientific name for black truffle, starts on 13th December, the day dedicated to Saint Lucy’s Day, very popular among children on Lake Garda and in the province of Brescia, that according to the tradition she is said to bring gifts to good children during this night. A magic day not only for children but also for truffle seekers that hope for a good harvest even though they well know that the drought during summer 2017 has caused a decrease in production. The problem has affected all types of truffle on Lake Garda because dry summer days have inhibited the growth of truffles. But fortunately, rainy days on August and September have favoured the growth so we can hope for a top-quality production. The estimated price pro kilo is between € 500 and € 800.

  • Vittoriale, big news for Summer 2018

The Vittoriale of Gardone Riviera has in store many big surprises again this year for the many visitors who will choose the city-garden as a destination for their summer holidays, perhaps choosing to stay at the Grand Hotel Gardone, symbol of Garda tourism for over 130 years .
The news has been anticipated in recent days as part of the "Capolavorando" festival, which annually celebrates the double anniversary of the birth and death of the great poet Gabriele D'Annunzio (12 March 1863-1 March 1938). On this occasion Vittoriale presented a series of new works donated to the house-museum that will further enrich the collection that can be visited in this new season: Al termine dell'adolescenza, a sculpture by Paolo Borghi, I Levrieri, a painting by Maurizio Boscheri, Il peso del tempo sospeso by Stefano Bombardieri and again Ermione by Carlo Previtali, i plastici di Fiume made by Giancarlo Stival e the Roberto Massussi work d'Annunzio in uno spillo.

A real personal is instead dedicated to the young artist Quirino Gnutti, whose monumental canvases painted in acrylic on velvet will be exhibited in the room dedicated to the anti-submarine motorboat used by d'Annunzio on the occasion of the famous "Beffa di Buccari", where they will remain exposed until December 1, 2018. The exhibition, curated in the artistic direction by Sara Pallavicini, Giovanni C. Lettini and Stefano Morelli, exhibits works that touch the themes closest to the artist who recreates a sort of new universe, hence the title The illusion of my time.
Two important points of the D'Annunzio residence are also returned to the public, namely the Ponte dei Conigli and the Ponte della Fortuna, back to its original splendor after having undergone the stripping of the decorations. Finally, a curious new permanent exhibition with the ironic title "Gabbriele Dannuncio", display of false autographs whose trade was cut short with judicial action undertaken by the Vittoriale itself to defend history and memory.
